Parables From Daily Living
Welcome to a journey of self-love and self-compassion as you explore yourself through traditional storytelling. Learning from stories has been a practice handed down for generations and we can gain insight and inspiration as we look at our lives from a narrative lens. Parables are written from daily living experiences of the author and have been collected as wisdom and guidance over the course of many years. Each parable is married with a guided meditation, introduction, parable, and three distinct counseling exercises. There are 52 sets, and the book can be worked straight through or over the course of a year.
The main topics are focused on aspects of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Each parable set supports and directs us to explore ourselves deeply, in relationship to the main section focus. Each guided meditation evokes images from nature or daily life that soothe and help center us. The introduction has us explore the main focuses of the parables and how to transcend difficult emotions with a married countering practice we can engage in to better manage our daily lives. Purposefully, the parable offers an image or story line that we can clearly see in our minds-eye. These evoke meaningful visions for solutions to everyday emotions that may distress us. We are challenged to learn effective coping strategies to effectively relate to ourselves and others through the exercises following each parable.
This book was written after years of counseling practice by the author and to reveal a varied way to look at the daily in life as a means to evoke positive progress within ourselves. If we want to explore vivid imagery, have our self perception enhanced, and reveal solutions to difficult problems, this book works towards that for an engaged reader.
